There were massive changes that were taking place with the onset of the Coronavirus. People were unsure about what they could do, with the Government implementing various changes to keep people safe. One of the primary changes that were taking place was remote working, which got many people to get things done from home.

With many people spending as much time as possible indoors, they made as many changes to their house as possible. While there are vaccines, mask mandates, and social distancing to keep as many people as safe as possible, people also learned that they had to turn to a healthier lifestyle. People were focusing on more natural and environmentally friendly foods and a better way of life.

While we provided alternatives when shopping for their foods and groceries, we also assisted them with as much information as possible. We learned that number of people were unsure about the steps to lead a healthier life, so we created a list that might benefit them. These are some of the tips they can follow if they are planning on changing their lifestyle.

Tip #1: Commit to using our refill station to discourage plastic consumption in your household
Our refill station is the place where you can bring your old containers, mason jars, or whatever you have on hand and fill them with items as soaps, hair products, household cleaners, toothpaste, deodorant, and so much more. You see, even when you recycle the plastic, we know that not all that plastic gets recycled. It still often ends up in landfills and our ocean. Your best defense against plastic use is to reuse old plastic containers and not constantly replace them with new ones.

Many of our customers use their old plastic containers multiple times until they cannot use them anymore. When this happens, they turn to reuse glass containers. At Mindful Market, our refill station contains products from bulk distributors who even take away our old large bulk containers and reuse them. There are various other refill stations that our customers can work with as well. They have to find the one that makes the most sense and is convenient. The only way to change a lifestyle is to find a convenient and easy alternative.

Tip #2: Ditch one-use or single-use products
It might seem a bit daunting, but we challenge you to come into the store so you can get an idea of what more you can be doing. Many of us have never thought about the amount of waste we are reducing using disposable sandwich bags, straws, dryer sheets, produce bags, or feminine hygiene products. For every one-use item in your household, you are contributing to landfill use. We carry supplies that can replace these frequently used one-use products. As an added benefit, the initial cost of these items will recuperate over time.

Tip #3: Use products that are friendly for the earth, for you, and animals
We source the items that you buy from us mindfully. They contain safe ingredients, are biodegradable, are not tested on animals, and are beneficial for human skin (even baby skin). We have a full line of products. Most people are unaware that even your deodorants and toothpaste can be harmful to the environment and you. At Mindful Market, we have done the hard work of finding those products and bringing them to one location so your family and the planet can breathe a sigh of relief.

Tip #4: Buy local
We often overlook the footprint we are leaving behind when we buy products that are sourced and then transported from all over the world. Buying locally can be difficult if you don’t know where to get items. We have attempted to bring local products to you, so you don’t have to go searching, just come to visit us. You can buy your beef from a big box store with no idea where it comes from or get it from us and know that it came from the farmer who lives within our municipality.

Tip #5: Take it one step at a time
Trying to be more environmentally conscious can be intimidating. Reducing the amount of waste you produce means you may need to create some new habits. We are still on this journey with you. We started small, and slowly we have been working to reduce our household waste. Make just one of these changes. If you try to do too much, you won’t be successful at any of them. Once you succeed at making one change, go on to the next one, and don’t be afraid to let us and our community of like-minded people guide you in the process.
